Day 323: Team Baltimore 5K

On Sunday morning, several members of Team Baltimore headed North to Towson for “Susie’s Cause 5K Run/Walk.”  Proceeds from the race benefited the The Susan Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation, and over $20,000 was raised.  The first picture below is Mike Kirby, Chris Diller, Drew Vogt, and Brian Diller after the race.

Drew Vogt took first place in the 19-29 year age group, and the race was a perfect way to help Susie’s Cause and get in a great We Are One workout.

Many members of Team Baltimore have kept a strong training regiment to prepare for the upcoming Baltimore Running Festival in a few weeks.  We’ll keep you posted on some of our workouts and look forward to running the half marathon and 5k wearing our We Are One 365 gear.

Enjoy the week.

Day 321 and 322

A combination of the days due to a technical posting issue. Nevertheless, the workouts were done in style at always.

Day 321 was a 4 mile run at sub 7 pace. So excited to be back in the running game. Then went on to play a little game of horse with my co-worker and, well, lets just say I only really needed HO if you know what I mean.

Day 322 started with a Surfset Core class followed by an awesome 5 mile run. Most of the miles right around 6 minute pace. Was feeling good so I wanted to see what my uninjured body could do. Managed to drop a sub 5 in there as well. #braggingalittlebecauseitsbeensolong

Hope you’re all having a great weekend.

Day 320

This morning I decided to revisit the Yoga Lounge. I wore the 365 shirt proudly for the 6am session of Vinyasa Yoga.  It has been a while since I have done yoga and the stiffness in my back has been reminding me all day.  Nonetheless, the session this morning was a great way to start the day.

Day 319

In New York City. 4 mile run on the trail along the Hudson River. Great to see so many people making time to work out in a city where its very easy to get caught up doing your thing. After a brief cool down, I took a new fitness class called SurfSet Fitness. All core and balance on top of the many different upper and lower body exercises. A ridiculously good workout as well as a ton of fun.

Day 318

I am in Evansville IN this week and fall is finally upon us. Behind my hotel there is a small pond with a running path. Each loop is 3/4 of a mile. I ran 4 times around. It was a great 3 mile run. The crisp fall air was fabulous!
I then went inside and did some ab work.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Day 317

Happy Monday, one and all.  I hope everyone had a fun and active weekend!  Upon the recommendation of a good friend of mine, I went out and bought myself a jump rope yesterday.  I remember as a youngster my sisters and I would spend hours outside jumping rope with the other neighborhood kids. In fifth grade I even organized a Jump Rope For Heart team and competed in the school competition.

It seems like jumping rope has gotten a lot harder since then.

I used a light weight speed rope and did a fifteen minute circuit.  I’d jump as long as could then do 30 push-ups, 30 sit ups, 50 bicep curls with my 10lb free weights, and then repeat.  I finished my full fifteen minutes but man was I tired out afterward.  I pushed myself to do my usual 3 mile jog afterward and really felt my muscles screaming at me.  The sign of a good workout.

I’ll let you know how my jumping goes over the course of the week!  It can only get better!

Check you next week!

Day 316 – Baltimore Meets Dewey Triathalon

Team Baltimore had a great time at the Dewey Beach Triathlon this weekend. The race consisted of a .5 mile swim, 15 mile bike and 3.5 mile run. It was a beautiful day for a race but there was a strong north to south wind that made the swim and second half of the bike extremely difficult. It was a battle but everyone completed the race and had a great time! Participants included Mike Kirby, Sarah McColley, Kelly Welsh, Alex Walsh, Matt Mazza, Amelia Burchard, Mia Szkolnicki, Brittney Hatrack and myself.

Getting in an early morning workout really sets the tone for a great weekend and a great weekend was had by all! The multi hour workout will really help with the training for the Baltimore Half Marathon on October 13th where Team Baltimore is going to have quite the showing. Join us if you’ll be in town that weekend.

Have a great week everyone, see you next Sunday!

Day 315

In beautiful Central Park in NYC. There is an awesome fitness event in the middle of the park called Fitness Games: Mind Body Spirit. Tons of event tents were set up and demoing their equipment for people to check out in addition to thousand of people running the road race. It was great to see that many people interested in the new fitness trends and took the time to come early on a Saturday morning. My whole family was there, which is always a fun time, celebrating my brothers birthday. Definitely hope to get We Are One involved in events like these. Great way to raise awareness. The picture below is During the set up of the event.

Day 314

Happy Friday!  Feeling a bit under the weather here in Minneapolis, but still able to get to a Barre class early this morning.  Dangerously obsessed over here…the mix between core, cardio, ballet, yoga and pilates is addicting.  Every class I feel as though I have pushed myself and each muscle to capacity–a really great feeling to start the day with!  This class is in a fairly small room  so the women on the next mat are great inspiration to finish those last few push ups!  A little competition always adds some fun to your workout, right?

While I am still on my Barre kick…I am missing running and feel like I need to sign up for a race soon–any suggestions??

Day 313

Circuit workout with the Soccer team:

We did the circuit again as a group, but this time we included the leg exercises.  The legs portion of the circuit included squats, weight pushes (pushing a 45 lb plate wrapped in a towel on the gym floor), wall sit with medicine ball, lunges, slides with resistance bands, and a few others.
