Team Philly

Dear followers,

Please forgive my absence from the blog over the past few weeks.  I broke my rib playing in a mens league soccer game which has “sidelined” me from working out.  However, it is feeling much better this week and I hope to be consistently working out again.

Today I ran two miles and finished with an ab workout.  I am trying to ease into it.  It was tough not being able to do much over the past few weeks. The last thing I want to do is injury myself by trying to do too much too early.  My goal right now is getting back into my routine and remaining healthy.

Today I went out for a  5-6 mile run.  I started out on a path along the Wissahickon Creek and ended up trying some new trails in the Wissahickon Valley Park. It was beautiful scenery and a little more challenging.  I plan to do some more exploring in the future.

July 4th

Military services should always be appreciated, but today serves as a special reminder of the freedoms their efforts have enable for all of us. I want to express my sincere thanks to all our Military men and women who have served and those that continue to serve our country. I wish everyone a safe and happy July 4th.

Team Boston

Yesterday the Boston Team completed the June Running Challenge in honor of the United States service members and Boston Marathon victims. We ran every day during the month in an effort show our gratitude and appreciation for the military’s tremendous sacrifice, and to pay tribute to those who were affected in the Boston Marathon tragedy.

Over the course of the month, I ran 155 miles in 18.5 hours, averaging just over 5 miles per day and 7:15 minutes per mile. My workouts ranged from 1 to 12 miles during the month, requiring some early mornings and very late nights, including last night’s run of 5 miles at 11:30 PM (see picture of the Boston Back Bay). I ran in four different states and in some pretty terrible weather, but thoroughly enjoyed each day of the challenge. In two weeks, Taylor Gorman and I are running a half marathon in Maine in preparation for our qualifying marathon in September. Thanks for the calls, texts, and everyone’s continued support as we push for Boston 2014! Please stay tuned for our Boston Fundraising event coming up this fall!
