Day 223

Sorry for the delayed post, I know you’ve been on the edge of your seats waiting for team Fridays post.

Well, since it’s been 90+ degrees and humid as ever I decided to get a swim in. I’m not sure what the distance was but it was from shore out to a black marker (NH residents will understand) and back. Felt great to get in the water in the hot weather, I hope you all remained cool.

Enjoy,

Day 222

Post number 222 here.  It has been a hot couple days out here in Ohio and today was no exception.  Today I did a 2.5 mile loop and a core workout.  It’s been nice to break into a sweat earlier in the run, but I am definitely feeling the heat catch up to me as I finish. It’s very important to stay hydrated during hot days.  It should be an all day thing, not just running for the fountain after your workout.

All the best for our Troops,

Tim

Day 221

Sorry for the late Wednesday post. Day got away from me which I know is no excuse but I did get a great 30 mile bike ride in through Topanga Canyon. Weather was outstanding and I got upwards of 40 mph down the canyon on the way out. It was wicked scary but incredibly exhilarating at the same time. Chain stayed on as well as no flat tires which is always an unknown for an amateur biker.

Hope everyone enjoyed the first official day of Summer!

Day 220

Although this blog is coming one day late~I can still feel the humidity we ran in yesterday!  I’m not complaining as it IS summer & I’m so sure that the temperatures overseas are much hotter than this & they don’t get to pick their “workout” clothing.  Something about a lulu lemon top & pants just would not sit right with the military!

So Jay & I met and went on the stationery bike for a half hour.  They were intervals so worked hard for several minutes and then took a minute break.  It was a great sweat!  Afterwards we ran outside at Mine Falls on a dirt path along the Nashua river for about 20 minutes.  Couldn’t believe what an awesome workout that was.  It’s actually called a “brick” when in training for a triathlon.  Hopefully I will have lake buddies this summer who will push me to do more of them!

A big shout out for all of you who get through your military days without complaining about the heat ~  I will keep that close to mind the next time I find myself wanting to whine!

xoxo

Day 219

Hey guys, just as I promised last Monday, I signed up for a race this week!  I’ll be running the Malibu Half Marathon with my dear old mother in November!  I honestly don’t know how all the pieces fell into place, but she told me she wanted to run a race with me, and next thing we knew we were signed up for the Malibu.  She’ll be flying out to Los Angeles November 8th and we’ll be running along the Pacific Coast November 11th.  I’m very excited!  Maybe this summer I can get her to do a couple of guest blogs to see how her training is coming!

As for me, I’ve gotta get my butt in gear!  Its beach season here in Los Angeles and I’ve been nothing but lethargic lately.  The occasional bike ride and 5k isn’t cutting it.  I ran about five miles tonight and felt like an old man when I got home!  Time to ramp it up and get back into marathon mode.  Only four and a half months until the Malibu Half Marathon!

Day 218: Baltimore

We hope everyone enjoyed the great weather this Father’s Day.  The 2012 Sailabration came to Baltimore on Saturday and Sunday, commemorating the bicentennial of The War of 1812.  The city was active all weekend, as Baltimorians flooded to their rooftop decks to watch the Air Show put on by the US Navy, featuring the Blue Angels.

The Baltimore Team also had a great weekend of workouts.  The Vogt family, featuring Drew, Megan, Stacy, Jack, and Mary-Jo (snapping the pic), played tennis on Sunday morning up at Hereford High School.

On top of that, WAO veteran Erich Raschid hiked Harper’s Ferry and brought along We Are One first timer, Lauren Avara.  They had a great time and the Baltimore squad just might have to organize a team hike before the Summer ends.

We hope everyone has a productive and fulfilling week.  The Oriole flavored We Are One shirts are in for all your O’s fans out there.

Enjoy the week.

Day 217

A day of volleyball down at the Santa Monica Beach with some great friends. Pretty intense games that drew in some spectators. Long hike up to the cliffs with some stair repeats in order to get some blood pumping. Beautiful day here on the West Coast. Hope all you 365ers are having a great weekend and getting into the Summer groove.

Day 215

Really warm day in Hudson Ohio.  I went for a mile run outside and then headed into the weight room.  Today I did an arms workout with high repetitions.  Turned out to be a very tiring workout.

Again, keep an eye out for the NBA Cares Military commercials.

Till next Thursday,

Day 214

Out in Seattle at the University of Washington for the U23 National Team Selection Camp. Staying busy rowing just under 40k a day, living with a great family, hoping to make the team. Hope everyone has been having some great workouts!
