Day 345

Twenty more days until this blog reaches its first birthday!  Exciting stuff!  In that amount of time I will have run the Los Angeles Rock N’ Roll mini marathon and will be gearing up for my third Malibu Half Marathon.  I’m overjoyed by the tremendous success this organization has found in such a short amount of time and incredibly proud to be a member of such a great cause.

I’ve been working out hard everyday in the name of the troops and their families, and today was no exception.  Put in a solid eight miler after work in the sweltering Los Angeles heat.  I came home and took a long dip in the tub to relax the tired muscles.

Keep up the good work 365-ers.  We’re almost to the finish line!

Day 342 and 343

Hey 365ers!

Friday was a great workout in NYC with my brother. We did a little workout at Chelsea Piers, this massive 33 acre gym right on the Hudson followed by a, of course, competitive game of Horse. Things came down to the wire but I think we all know who pulled out the W.

Just got back from a nice long run alongside the Hudson and into Central Park a little. Things are getting a bit nippy over here on the East coast. I haven’t experienced a Fall in over two years so this is a nice change of pace.

Body is feeling strong thanks to SurfSet classes and actually listening to my body this time. Very excited for this fall as I will be traveling to 25 cities over the course of 2 months for work. I’ll let you know where we will be!

Day 341

This weeks workout was playing with the soccer team I help coach.  We scrimmaged full field and it was wonderful to play with the team.  Our team is very good and plays at a high level.  After playing for a half, I was spent, but loved every second.

Day 339

It’s a little cool here in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. I’m sure it’s similar to the weather back home but the mood here at 1600 is definitely different than Hollis, NH.  I missed body by Scotty this am with Jay so took to the streets!

I told my Mom I’d go to church with her and my Dad this am so as not to lose out on an early morning workout and keep true to my word, I dressed in my running clothes on this misty dreary day and got in the car @ 7 with them to head to st. Vincent’s on the south side. As a kid I would never have run from there back home. Made Mom clock it to see how far it was. Imagine that…only 2.4 miles! I was home in no time. Took me about 24 mins…..and I didn’t melt. Dad was sure I’d change my mind if it started raining harder. It was a great feeling to run past all the long forgotten familiar sites.

I respect the military families who may be giving their children a very different childhood memory than the one i have of living in the same house for so many years.  However, i am sure the flexibility from moving around will serve them well in the years ahead.

Here’s to happy times as a kid no matter where you grew up!

Day 338

Sorry guys, I woke up this morning and realized I missed posting last night.  My apologies, it certainly wasn’t for lack of trying.  Ran a real nice seven and a half miler last night after work.  I didn’t intend to do so much, but I veered from my usual course and just kept on running.  I was quite happy with myself when I got home.

Entering into the final month of the 365 day challenge.  Keep doing so well everybody!  I know you will.

See ya next week!

Day 335 and 336

Sorry for the out of order posts.

Friday was a quick 4 mile run with sets of 100/100 as well as some pull ups thrown into the mix.

Saturday was two Surfset classes back to back followed by a short 2 mile shake out run. Definitely needed rest after that. (Pictured is a member of Surfset doing a Water Walker on our board)

Very excited for all the WAO members as we come into our final month for the 365 Day Challenge. Although we have been working out every day and making great progress with the organization, we still have a lot of exciting things to accomplish.

Day 337: One Week Till Baltimore Running Festival

With one week to go before the Baltimore Running Festival, several members of WAO put together nice workouts to finish the weekend.  Chris Diller completed a 6 mile run on Saturday morning, doing several loops around Fort McHenry.  This morning, Drew Vogt completed a 5 mile run from Federal Hill over to Harbor East and back.  Mike Kirby ran 6 miles on Saturday over to Fells Point, and completed a 3 mile run/3 mile bike on Sunday.

Below is a picture of Mike after his workout this morning.  Stay tuned next week as we expect to have close to a dozen We Are One 365 members running in the festival with their WAO gear.

Enjoy the Week,

Team Baltimore

Day 334

Today, I did the running loop that I have done before. It was great day in Hudson– 70’s and sunny.  I am trying to savor the last few weeks/days of Fall.  I know that winter will be here before I know it and it was nice to be out for a run on a prefect Fall day.
