Day 243

First off, I want to apologize for missing my post day last week.  We have a great group of volunteers and leaders and we always manage to get a post up.  So thank you for the back up!

Today was a 4 mile run and an upper body work out.  This was a little more distance than I normally do, but i managed to get through.  It is a 2 mile loop that remains pretty flat with a few decent inclines.

I would also like to wish a happy belated 4th of july, since I missed my post on the 5th.  God Bless

Day 229

The heat wave is coming through Hudson, but the workouts continue.  I went out for a 3 mile run today and followed up in the gym with an upper body workout.  Working out solo is never easy but the dedication helps get us all through it.  Looking forward to celebrating July 4th.  Thanks to everything our Troops did and continue to do.

Until next Thursday,

Tim

Day 222

Post number 222 here.  It has been a hot couple days out here in Ohio and today was no exception.  Today I did a 2.5 mile loop and a core workout.  It’s been nice to break into a sweat earlier in the run, but I am definitely feeling the heat catch up to me as I finish. It’s very important to stay hydrated during hot days.  It should be an all day thing, not just running for the fountain after your workout.

All the best for our Troops,

Tim

Day 215

Really warm day in Hudson Ohio.  I went for a mile run outside and then headed into the weight room.  Today I did an arms workout with high repetitions.  Turned out to be a very tiring workout.

Again, keep an eye out for the NBA Cares Military commercials.

Till next Thursday,

Tim

Day 207

Today was a great day for a run. 3 mile run followed by a core and leg workout.  Huge game tonight in the NBA -Heat vs Celtics.  I’ll leave my opinions out on who I am rooting for, but I will definitely be tuning in.  For those who have not been watching the playoffs, it is worth noting the Ads they have been running for the Military as part of their NBA Cares campaign .

Day 201

I broke free from the Vinyasa flow yoga this week and got back to the road work (running).  I went out for a 2.5 mile run and then did a short lift.  The weather could not be better-sunny with a light breeze.  Hard to believe that we are past day 200!

Day 194

Today I returned for another class of morning Vinyasa Flow Yoga.  It was a great session and once again another great start to the day.  It is clear that my flexibility is struggling, but I love getting into the Yoga Lounge early to work on it and get a good sweat.

Day 187

After mild recruitment from a co worker of mine and, I admit, some genuine interest, I agreed to go to morning Yoga at 6 a.m.  I was not exactly sure what I was getting myself into, but it turned out to be a great experience.  The session I attended was a Vinyasa flow Yoga class which means “breath synchronized movement”.  There is a certain rhythm to the yoga as each pose leads to the next in methodical fashion. I also found that the breathing (hence the name) was increasingly important as we progressed through the class.  Our instructor coached us through the breathing, which proved to be very helpful for me.  Overall it was a great start to the day Image

Day 180

A quick 2 mile run was enough to feel the burn this week.  My workouts are lessoning throughout the week but I am still holding strong for the Blog day.  Lacrosse season is nearing an end with just two more weekends left in the season.  Our team is particularly banged up right now, with numerous kids out with injuries and others playing through injuries.  The team travels to Columbus this weekend for the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Association Tournament.  We take off tomorrow and will play Friday and Saturday in the B Bracket.

Until next Thursday,

Tim

Day 173

Started the day off with a great film session with the Varsity Lacrosse team.  The boys were coming off a great win against rival Kiski, as we prepared for our weekend in Cincinnati.  Assistant Coach Joe, broke down the film and rallied the team for the game and also today’s practice.

For practice we started with “3 by 3” small sided lacrosse games (using small goals and tennis balls).  And by we, I mean the coaches had a team too. (Just  a reminder, i’ve never played lacrosse before).

The team broke up into groups of three, and played games to three goals.  we had multiple fields set up, and after every game the winners moved up and the losers moved down.  As the coaches team, we started on the top winning field and were hoping to stay there the entire practice. I would love to report that our team went undefeated, but we ended the day with a few loses.

It was a great workout on a warm day and I think we managed to hold onto our pride

Until next Thursday,

-Tim
