Team Boston

Yesterday the Boston Team completed the June Running Challenge in honor of the United States service members and Boston Marathon victims. We ran every day during the month in an effort show our gratitude and appreciation for the military’s tremendous sacrifice, and to pay tribute to those who were affected in the Boston Marathon tragedy.

Over the course of the month, I ran 155 miles in 18.5 hours, averaging just over 5 miles per day and 7:15 minutes per mile. My workouts ranged from 1 to 12 miles during the month, requiring some early mornings and very late nights, including last night’s run of 5 miles at 11:30 PM (see picture of the Boston Back Bay). I ran in four different states and in some pretty terrible weather, but thoroughly enjoyed each day of the challenge. In two weeks, Taylor Gorman and I are running a half marathon in Maine in preparation for our qualifying marathon in September. Thanks for the calls, texts, and everyone’s continued support as we push for Boston 2014! Please stay tuned for our Boston Fundraising event coming up this fall!

Today we completed our 22nd day in a row of running for the June Challenge. This week was very busy, filled with bizarre weather including hailstorms and moderate flooding, but we are still on pace to finish with 45 miles over the past 7 days. Yesterday, Nick Karwoski and I did 8 miles at Lake Winnipesaukee, NH and finished with a circuit of core exercises and stretching. This picture was taken post-run today from the lakefront. A beautiful weekend capped off with a nice long run tomorrow evening back in Boston should set the Boston team up for a nice week of running heading into the final 8 days of our challenge. Hope to see some We Are One 365 runners out in Boston this week!

Today marks day 15 of our June running challenge. This week was filled with some great workouts and terrible weather, but we are still on pace to hit 40 miles over the past 7 days. On Monday, Taylor Gorman and I did a 10 mile test run in the driving rain and, given the circumstances, were very pleased with the result. This morning, I did a slow, 5 mile run through the city, starting in back bay – down through the south end – and then back along the Esplanade. The photo attached is of the reflecting pool in the Christian Science Center park right near the Prudential Tower. As you can see, a beautiful, picturesque day in Boston. Tomorrow we will be running along the Charles River around 4 PM, looking to do about 8 miles. Hope to see others out there in their We Are One 365 gear. Have a nice weekend everyone!

We are 8 days into the Boston challenge and the running has been going very well. This week I am on pace to run just over 35 miles, with the addition of a 10 mile run tomorrow with Taylor Gorman along the Charles River.

I ran some very beautiful routes this week in Boston, and primarily stayed along the Charles River in Back Bay. Most of my workouts were between 5-7 miles followed by a circuit of core exercises. This weekend I am visiting friends and family in Maine and completed a nice run through Yarmouth this afternoon, heading through Royal River Park and around the town. Riley (pictured with the We Are One 365 shirt) was too busy sunbathing to join, but shows her support for the We Are One 365 mission.

Stay tuned for details regarding our August fundraising event in Boston, hope to see everyone out running next week!

We Are One 365 Boston

Today marks the beginning of our monthly running challenge in the city of Boston. This goal of this project is to support the Boston Marathon victims and first responders, and to raise awareness of the daily sacrifice made by our US servicemen and women.  Additionally, I will be preparing to qualify for the 2014 Boston Marathon in honor of our United States Military and those who were affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy. We hope to gain a loyal following by running every day in June in preparation for our fundraising event in August.

This week, I am on pace to run 35 miles over 5 days. I have run some very scenic routes, primarily along the Charles River in Back Bay. The picture below is from the marathon memorial in Copley Square, taken this morning after my run. Tomorrow, I plan to run 10 miles from Commonwealth Ave into Cambridge, looping back around through the Science Museum area.  Taylor Gorman (Brown University alumni and former All-Ivy soccer player) and I will be running around 6pm if anyone would like to join us along the way, we would enjoy your company! I will be wearing the traditional We Are One 365 blue t-shirt, hope to see you out there.

We Are One 365 is pleased to announce the beginning of a new challenge in the city of Boston. Scott Carpenter, one of our contributing Boston team members, will be running every day in the month of June in honor of the 2013 Boston Marathon victims, first responders, and the military servicemen and women who help prevent these tragedies from happening. Scott will be posting weekly updates on his progress and the specific running routes he completes through the city. We hope that our followers in Boston will join the movement and run alongside Scott as he carries out the We Are One 365 mission!
