Day 257

Great workout with my younger brother in NH on Saturday. Couple sets of squats, pull ups, chin ups, pushups, one legged dips and a nice row in on a single skull. Great to have a motivator around all the time. Especially while we check out Europe for the next few weeks. Keeping up with the hostel workouts will be key. But no matter how bad our situation may be Not a day goes by without thinking of the troops in those rough conditions a lifestyle. Thoughts and prayers. AR. NF. NR.

Day 254

Its been a crazy couple of days. Driving from Los Angeles to New Hampshire. Over 3500 miles. Lots of pushups and ab workouts to stay awake and healthy. Just reminds me how great a country we live in between the badlands of South Dakota to Yosemite to tons of amazing cities with all sorts of interesting people. Landed in Ithaca for a little while this morning and was able to go for a row with my brother, the world class rower, and some of his former Cornell teammates. Great to get back out on the water.

Post for Saturday…Day 245

A little out of order here at the WAO365 Day Challenge but definitely no lack of commitment. Saturday was filled with an incredible range of WAO participants. A great friend James Sunderland played in his Men’s League Soccer game where he decided the pace of the game, had 3 assists and a goal and came out on top with the “W”. I think thats like a Swedish hat trick or something. Our Wednesday Team leader, Alex Karwoski, raced in the Grand Final for the World Championships in LIthuania and came in 4th. 4th in the world for Saturday….I’d say halfway decent..haha. A huge Congratulations to him and the US Team. Quite an impressive feat to accomplish in such a hard event and sport. Love you buddy.

And for myself, I had a great workout in Santa Monica. 2 sets of 20 reps on the bars down at the beach. Tricep dips, full body push ups, pull ups, chin ups and 10 min abs. I was feeling really amped going into the workout, so I ran the 4.5 miles to the beach. Normally it wouldn’t be an issue, a 9 mile run I mean, but after that workout and considering I’m just starting back up with my running mileage, the “jog” back was beyond exhausting.

Keep up the great work.

Day 242

Team Wednesday a little off the normal timing because of his European location. Currently in Lithuania for the World Championships of Rowers under 23 years old. The first preliminary races were yesterday where the US had a strong first 3/4 of the race but Great Britain closed hard and edged them out for the win. They head to the semi finals on Friday to hope to qualify for the Grand Final on Sunday. The entire We Are One Family wishes Alex and the US team the best of luck. Pull hard!

Day 241

Last day on the East Coast with my family which has been an incredible past two weeks. Every day and every moment was cherished as our family grew and celebrated these events with all of our closest friends and family. Can’t thank the men and women enough who dedicate their lives to serving this incredible country and giving us the privilege to celebrate these types of events with our loved ones. Thank you.

Tuesday’s workout was a run through the trails at Mills Falls Park. If my Mom enjoyed running, she could be an incredible runner and, ultimately, an even better triathlete. I’m working on it but its definitely a love/hate relationship with her. I actually got a 3 mile run in once I flew back to Los Angeles at around 1 o’clock in the morning. Good to be back but definitely ready to be back on the East coast full time. These next couple of Wednesday/Saturday posts should be quite interesting as my brother and I embark on our cross country road trip. Who knows what type of workouts we will be doing.

Day 238

What an incredible day for my family. It’s been quite a week with road races, bike rides, trail runs, water skiing, barefoot skiing, wake boarding and swimming. Not only was it an unbelievable 4th of July week but it was the week of my sisters wedding. Gina had me doing ab workouts with her and making people feel guilty when she was going out for runs.

Saturday was quite the day but my family never goes without thinking about the daily sacrifices that are made by our military members. Enjoy the rest of the weekend 365ers.

And best of luck to my brother in Lithuania for the Crew World Championships.

Day 231- Week before the 4th!!!

Saturday at the Lake. Family starting to roll in which means only one thing. Intense competitions regardless of what we are doing. My soon to be brother-in-law and myself went for an easy 4 mile run on Long Island (New Hampshire) and blew by my sisters on their run. It was a long day of chores followed by a nice run, swim and a push up/pull up contest with my brother-in-law. Great Saturday. Always thinking and thanking the military members for their contributions which make it possible for us to celebrate with friends and family during this incredible week, especially with the 4th of July approaching.

Day 230

Team Friday has been traveling and working like maniacs the past few fridays so its been a little hectic getting the Friday post out but nevertheless here we are.

I had a great workout with my Mom (Granite Girl Team Tuesday) at the local YMCA early in the morning. I did a HIIT workout (High Intensity Interval Training) on the erg. 8500 kilometers with an all out effort every 5th minute. I was exhausted by the end but my Mom wanted to see some ball/core exercises so we did about 6 sets of 20 reps on the ball and planks.

Great workout leading up to my Sisters Wedding week. Nothing beats Lake Winnipesaukee in the Summer except a workout on the water up here.

Day 224

Crazy Saturday over here on the West Coast. I was packing for most of the day since I will be going back to the East Coast (New Hampshire) for a while and then off to Europe and then who knows where. So because of all of this, I decided to do some 100 pushup in between every suitcase that I had packed. Not saying it was the greatest workout ever but I was definitely tired by the end of it.

I decided to get a good bike ride in along the coast down into Santa Monica and Venice before the sun went down since I am not sure when the last time I will see the Pacific Ocean. I’ll keep you updated though. Hope all you 365ers are having a great weekend.

And Congrats to my brother for making the Under 23 National Crew Team. World Championships are in Lithuania the week of July 8th. Best of luck buddy.

Day 221

Sorry for the late Wednesday post. Day got away from me which I know is no excuse but I did get a great 30 mile bike ride in through Topanga Canyon. Weather was outstanding and I got upwards of 40 mph down the canyon on the way out. It was wicked scary but incredibly exhilarating at the same time. Chain stayed on as well as no flat tires which is always an unknown for an amateur biker.

Hope everyone enjoyed the first official day of Summer!
