Day 197: Bmore From the Beach

We hope everyone is enjoying their long Memorial Day weekend! I am spending my weekend at the beach. There are lots of activities going on down here at the Outer Banks. In the morning I went for a 6 mile run on the beach. It was nice changing it up and running on the sand, there seems to be a lot less impact on your legs with the extra cushion you get from the sand. Later in the day a bunch of us took out some ocean kayaks and paddled for a couple hours, battling the waves and current. It was a lot of fun and it was a great upper body workout.

The beach has been great and workouts have been new and exciting. We hope all of you are enjoying your long weekends as well, but make sure you take the time to remember what this weekend is actually about; the veterans that lost their lives while serving our country and protecting our freedom.

Happy Memorial Day to all and God Bless America!

Happy Mothers Day – Day 183

Today, as many members of Team Baltimore headed home to enjoy Mothers Day, we all had our own separate workouts.

Today Stacey Vogt did a training circuit using the rowing machine, treadmill and elliptical. She did two 10 minute intervals on each machine.

Mike Kirby got in a dual workout today. He started the day off with a nice lift and later went for a 2 mile run around Baltimore.

With the beautiful weather we had here in the Baltimore area, I went out for a 24 mile bike ride.

It was a great, relaxing weekend for Team Baltimore and we hope that all the Moms out there had a great Mother’s Day!

Have a great week everyone!

Day 176: Bmore in the big city

A few members of team Baltimore made a trip up to NYC for the weekend. During our stay, we went for a nice jog around Central Park. However, the real workout came when it was time to catch the bus back to Baltimore and there were no cabs to get us to the train station – this is where we got our sprint workouts in for the day. Our warm-up sprint was the sprint from the subway to the shuttle, followed by the sprint from the shuttle to the bus station. Mike Kirby was very proud of the PR he set with a 2-block sprint in 20.5 seconds.

The rest of Team Baltimore stayed back home to hold down the fort – below is a picture of Mark Wheeler doing tree trunk curls while rocking his WAO365 shirt.

All is well in Baltimore as the team continues to spread the word of WAO365 AND the Orioles just completed a sweep of the Red Socks. It doesn’t get much better!

We hope everyone has a great week!

Day 155

It was a beautiful weekend here in Baltimore and with the perfect spring weather, members of team Baltimore set out to partake in a variety of activities and workouts.

Graham Becker and Mark Wheeler are pictured below getting a good workout in at the local rock climbing compound.

Erich Raschid had his first game for his Sunday Kickball League today, where he wore his WAO365 shirt to help spread the word and build awareness within the league.

This afternoon Mike Kirby, Graham Becker and Chris Diller had a group run around the Baltimore Inner Harbor.  Below is a picture of Chris celebrating the end of the run.

We hope everyone has a great week with plenty of great workouts!

See you next week!

Day 142 – Bmore’s Weekend

It was an eventful and successful weekend for Team Bmore. We had a great kickoff event on Saturday with a group run of 27 people in the morning followed by a social event at Mothers Bar and Grille at night. The combination of the two events raised nearly $2,500 to be donated to a local military family. More details on the event are to come later.

On Sunday a couple members of Team Baltimore took the field again for the Sunday soccer league. Today was the last game of the season, and WAO365 gear was being rocked harder then ever (everyone wanted to sport their new Under Armour gear they got at the Bmore Kickoff event yesterday!) No need to discuss the final score, the only details necessary are that everyone had a great time and everyone got in a good sweat.

Have a great week!

Day 128

Today was a beautiful day in Baltimore. A perfect day for a Sunday workout. We went out for a nice long run in downtown Baltimore taking in the different scenes the city has to offer, including Ft McHenry and the Inner Harbor.

This weekend a few members from Team Baltimore took advantage of the beautiful weather and played some volleyball at Rash Field. In the picture is Perry Menzies, Graham Becker, Dan Foltin and missing from the picture is the fantastic photographer Mike Kirby.

Once again Chris Diller is out there right now repping his WAO365 shirt in his Hockey League. His team is in the second round of the playoffs and banking on Chris to have another stellar game to help them advance further into the playoffs.

It’s been a great and active weekend, only two weekends left before the Baltimore Chapter Kickoff Event on Saturday March 31st, so sign up now! – http://www.eventbrite.com/event/2868605075?ref=ebtnebtckt

Have a great week!

Day 114: Bmore Soccer

Here in Baltimore we try to vary our workouts each Sunday and change it up as much as possible.  Today some members of Team Baltimore played in an indoor soccer game.  It was a real nail biter, but in the end we came out on top 9-7. The highlight of the game came in the 30th minute with a left footed bomb from Graham Becker (pictured below holding the ball) from 30 yards out.  The MVP of the game was keeper, Tom Ripley (kneeling in the picture), who gave one of his most consistent performances of the year.  It was a team effort today, and everyone gave it their all – achieving not only the “W”, but also a great workout.

Team Baltimore is continuing to build momentum and awareness. If you are ever interested in joining us for one of our Sunday workouts, let us know!  We are also very close to having the details of the Baltimore kickoff event ironed out and have tentatively planned the event for Saturday March 31st – so mark your calendars!

Day 100: Why Be Less When You You Can Bmore?

Today was Team Baltimore’s first day hosting the 365 day challenge. Team Baltimore had a beautiful early morning run with some of the first new Baltimore members. There was a well rounded variety of activities including rollerblading, biking, and running. We rollerbladed, biked, and ran a loop that encompassed the world famous and historic Federal Hill. There is a lot of enthusiasm here in Baltimore about building awareness of WAO365, and we all look forward to our future Sunday workouts.
