Day 328 and 329

Friday: Run along Hudson Parkway. Really aren’t too many uninterrupted paths/areas to run in throughout NYC so my options are limited. 4 miles at 7 minute pace. Everything felt good which is always a good sign.

Saturday: Did sets of pushups and sit ups on the SurfSet board after another run along the Hudson. Always fun seeing the type of people who are staying active on Saturdays. All sorts of characters but very happy to see them out and about.

Day 327

Great run along the Hudson with my good friend Billy Goat. It was weird though. We went out 2 miles and started to come back at a slightly quicker pace and I could tell he was dropping off a little. I circled back a bit and we met up again. He said he had taken a wrong turn and had to save a women who had fallen off her bike…that’s why he had fallen back. HA! Starting to feel the soreness with all the back to back SurfSet classes I’m taking in addition to the miles I’m putting on.

Important to take care of the little pains before they turn into big ones. A day of rest is sometimes more helpful to your training than getting another workout in. Especially when it comes to running. A strength training class in replace of an hour run engages the muscles that don’t normally get worked.

Day 326Day 326

Took out the Kent School Boat Club’s Varsity 4+ to train for the Head of the Charles in 3 weeks. We did a pyramid of 1 minute on, 1 minute off, 2 minutes on, 2 minutes off, 3 minutes on, 3 minutes off, then back down.

Being out on the water in Kent, CT offers some incredible views.

Day 325

Hello again from the Granite State Girls!

The body parts are screaming again as I peeled myself out of bed in the pitch dark at 4:55 am to meet Jay & head to the Y for our bi-weekly session with Scott. Without someone waiting for me on the other end, I’m quite certain that I would not be getting up that early to “wake up” the rest of me!

Lots of rolling out with the foam roller makes for a great “poor man’s massage” for starters. Some body weight lunges, forward & to the side with a few downward dog stretches make us ready to hit the weights; side planks, goblet squats & one-legged curls on the stability ball to name just a few of our early morning challenges. I never tire of the routine. So nice to have the choice to workout with people that make you laugh.

A nice breakfast of steel cut oats served with nuts, blueberries & some rice milk were a great way to keep the day moving in a positive direction.

Pausing a moment to remember our military families…..wondering what they are thinking about the upcoming election and who would best serve them. I’m not sure but would love to have a conversation with one of them to find out.

Sending hugs from Hollis, NH & Salt Lake City, Utah

Day 324

Day 324 already!  Can you believe it!  Closing in on a full year of working out every single day.  Pretty spectacular.  Outside of the Karwoski brothers, I’ve never met any of the other team leaders, but following everyone’s blog everyday has really gotten me motivated to exercise and push myself to the limit.

Still running hard, jumping rope, and putting the iron gym to the test.  My next race, the Los Angeles Rock N’ Roll Half Marathon, is about a month down the road, so I’ve been working hard to get in shape.  Today I ran three and a half miles before work, which got my heart pumping and the endorphins flowing for the day.

Keep working hard everybody!  See ya next Monday!

Day 323: Team Baltimore 5K

On Sunday morning, several members of Team Baltimore headed North to Towson for “Susie’s Cause 5K Run/Walk.”  Proceeds from the race benefited the The Susan Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation, and over $20,000 was raised.  The first picture below is Mike Kirby, Chris Diller, Drew Vogt, and Brian Diller after the race.

Drew Vogt took first place in the 19-29 year age group, and the race was a perfect way to help Susie’s Cause and get in a great We Are One workout.

Many members of Team Baltimore have kept a strong training regiment to prepare for the upcoming Baltimore Running Festival in a few weeks.  We’ll keep you posted on some of our workouts and look forward to running the half marathon and 5k wearing our We Are One 365 gear.

Enjoy the week.

Day 321 and 322

A combination of the days due to a technical posting issue. Nevertheless, the workouts were done in style at always.

Day 321 was a 4 mile run at sub 7 pace. So excited to be back in the running game. Then went on to play a little game of horse with my co-worker and, well, lets just say I only really needed HO if you know what I mean.

Day 322 started with a Surfset Core class followed by an awesome 5 mile run. Most of the miles right around 6 minute pace. Was feeling good so I wanted to see what my uninjured body could do. Managed to drop a sub 5 in there as well. #braggingalittlebecauseitsbeensolong

Hope you’re all having a great weekend.

Day 320

This morning I decided to revisit the Yoga Lounge. I wore the 365 shirt proudly for the 6am session of Vinyasa Yoga.  It has been a while since I have done yoga and the stiffness in my back has been reminding me all day.  Nonetheless, the session this morning was a great way to start the day.

Day 319

In New York City. 4 mile run on the trail along the Hudson River. Great to see so many people making time to work out in a city where its very easy to get caught up doing your thing. After a brief cool down, I took a new fitness class called SurfSet Fitness. All core and balance on top of the many different upper and lower body exercises. A ridiculously good workout as well as a ton of fun.
