Coming off of a great weekend here in Ithaca (as Nick posted about) with the Carnegie Cup races against Yale and Princeton, we have been back on the water even though we were surprised on Monday with a few inches of snow. Today we did a new workout which was 17 strokes “on” or at race-pace, then 5 strokes “off” or paddling. We repeated this sequence for 2500 meters.
Once we came off the water, our “Wall of Honor” recipients were announced. The “Wall” is a giant board in the Varsity Lifting Center on campus that has every varsity sport listed with its honorees last name’s. The categories we are judged/scored on are:
1) Maximum Back Squat
2) Maximum Power Clean
3) Vertical Jump
4) 2000 m Erg Test Score
5) 500 m Erg Test Score
6) Body Fat Percentage
Starting in August, the competition for getting your name on the “Wall” runs throughout the entire Fall, Winter and Spring.
It was a fun practice and I had everyone huddle up afterwards for a team picture:
